MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Sept. 12, 2005— NetLogic Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq:NETL), the leader in the design and development of knowledge-based processors, today announced shipments of its NL3180GLQ NETLite(TM) processor, specifically designed for cost-sensitive, high-volume applications such as entry-level switches, routers and access equipment. The device seamlessly interfaces to network processors, merchant silicon solutions, field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) and application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) that follow the industry-standard Network Processing Forum LA-1 specification.

NetLogic Microsystems' NL3180GLQ family of NETLite processors support up to 512K IPv4 and up to 128K IPv6 routing entries. This significant increase in database capacity enables entry-level networking products to support the deployment of an array of advanced IP network features including IPv6 routing, QoS, security and packet classification on converged networks for voice, video and data communications.

"The NL3180GLQ processor significantly upgrades the NETLite processor family to support a new class of high-volume, cost-sensitive customers," said James McDermott, director of marketing for NetLogic Microsystems.

The NETLite processor family leverages circuit techniques developed and refined during the design of NetLogic Microsystems' current market proven knowledge-based processor families, and greatly benefits from die size optimization, low power dissipation and redundant computing techniques. In addition, the NETLite processor's simplified pipeline architecture allows for a lower cost of manufacture and lower cost system designs. These new processors are ideal for entry-level systems that do not require the advanced parallel processing and deep pipelining performance of NetLogic Microsystems' high-end knowledge-based processors.

For rapid time to market, customers can use a comprehensive software and hardware development environment for the new device. The software development kit (SDK) includes, software drivers, an API, sample code and bring-up utilities. The hardware development kit (HDK) includes an evaluation card and reference schematics.

Availability and Pricing

NetLogic Microsystems' NL3180GLQ family of NETLite processors are available in pre-production quantities now. For volume pricing information please contact sales@netlogicmicro.com.
